Acworth, GA- The man arrested for stabbing a police officer in Sandy Springs has now been arrested for murdering a fireman and his wife in Cherokee County on the 18th, and he left their 2 year old alone unharmed. 22 year old, Matthew Lanz was arrested Friday after he broke into a Sandy Springs home and stabbed a policeman who responded to the break in. Another police officer shot Lanz, who was treated at a hospital and was released into police custody. Lanz lived next door to the couple he is accused of murdering. The Hicks just moved into the house in September. A man with the same last name as Lanz, 27 year old Austin Lanz, was arrested for breaking into the Hicks house in April when it was owned by the previous owners. Austin assaulted multiple deputies, injuring 2 of them while he was getting booked. In August, Austin ambushed and stabbed a Pentagon police officer to death. Austin was then shot and killed in Washington DC by the police.
