An intergovernmental organization has added the United States to its annual list of countries who’s democracies are “backsliding”. This is the first time the U.S. has made the list. The organization cites the election disinformation and the coronavirus pandemic as the reason for the backsliding. Former President Trump’s 2020 election lies was listed as a “historic turning point ” that has effected other countries around the world.
