The United States Navy announced that they have fired 2 senior officers of a nuclear powered attack submarine that was damaged in an undersea collision with an undersea mountain in the South China Sea. The submarine was the U.S.S. Connecticut, which is a Seawolf class sub and a member of the 7th Fleet. 2 other officers were removed: a sailor who was senior enlisted advisor to the commander and the executive officer. Vice Admiral Karl Thomas said they were released “due to a lack of confidence.” 2 crew members sustained “moderate” injuries.
