Meteorologist confirmed that the loud noise heard in southwestern Pennsylvania, which sounded like an explosion, was a meteor crashing into the ground causing a giant flash of light. The explosion happened 40 minutes before noon on New Year’s Day. The experts said it had the energy of around “30 tons of T.N.T. and was probably a yard wide.
