6;32 AM: Russia’s benchmark stock index, the MOEX fell 10.5% yesterday marking it’s biggest daily percentage drop since March 2014.

6:44 AM: Germany has taken steps to stop the certifying the Nord Stream 2 natural gas pipeline which sends the natural gas to Russia.

7:48 AM: There has been reportedly been a surge in fighting along the front lines in eastern Ukraine’s Dondas region and it is driving many citizens to flee the areas. President Joe Biden has ordered bans on new investment, trading and financing in the seperatist areas of the Ukraine.

10:10 AM: National Security Adviser Jon Finer told CNN that the White House officially called the Russian moves on the Ukraine an ‘invasion’. The White House will be announcing new sanctions on Russia, ‘within hours’.

10:36 AM: Russia and President Vladimir received no support from the United Nations Security Council last night.

2:55 PM: President Joe Biden stated, “A flagrant violation of international law and demands a firm response from the international community.” Biden also announced tough sanctions against Russia’s large financial institutions and the Kremlin will pay “an even steeper price if it continues aggression.” The moves will cut Russia from Western financing.

6:02 PM: Secretary of State Antony Blinken has canceled a scheduled meeting with his Russian counterpart, but did announce that the United States will continue to pursue diplomacy.
