3:11 AM: Russia’s Central Bank has more than doubled the interest rate from 9.5% to 20% in response to all the sanctions imposed on Russia’s financial markets. The Russian Ruble has nosedived during the day.

6:42 AM: British Petroleum announced yesterday that it will get rid of its 20% stake in Russian government oil producer Rosneft at the behest of officials from the United Kingdom.

7:08 AM: A Ukrainian delegation led by the country’s defense minister has arrived for a peace talks with Russian officials near the border with Belarus. Ukrainian officials announced that they had cleared the city of Russian infiltrators.

7:52 AM: Belarus passed a referendum that would pave the way for Russia to use the country as a staging ground for Russia’s nuclear weapons.

8:31 AM: The United States announced new sanctions against Russia’s central bank to cut off them from accessing assets held in the United States and its allies.

8:42 AM: Two-time Olympic gold medalist Vasiliy Lomkhenko joined the Ukrainian defense battalion to fight against Russia.

10:33 AM: The neutral country Switzerland will freeze Russian assets. The country is famous for their neutrality as well as a favorite destination for Russian money. As of 2020, it is believed that they were housing $11 billion worth of Russian money & assets.

12:38 PM: Ukraine has officially applied to be a member of the European Union.

1:09 PM: FIFA and UEFA has suspended the Russian soccer teams from all international competition.

1:39 PM: Russian President Vladimir Putin has banned residents from sending money to bank acounts overseas.

4:23 PM: The United States has asked 12 Russian diplomats to the United Nations to leave the country for engaging in “espoinage activites.” Ambassador Richard Mills said that they were expelled for being involved in “activites that were not in accordance with their responsibilities and obligations as diplomats.”
