Washington, D.C.: The House of Representatives passed the Respect for Marriage Act (258-169) which the U.S. Senate passed last week. The bill would guarantee that the federal government would recognize any marriage if the union was valid in the state. The bill will also require states to accept the ligitimacy of a valid marriage performed in any state. The bill now heads to President Joe Biden’s desk for him to sign.
