The former president of Pakistan Pervez Musharraf has died at the age of 79. He was a key ally after the 9/11 attacks against the Taliban. Musharraf took over in 1999 in a bloodless coup. His tenure as president ended when he resigned in 2008 under a threat of impeachment.
