Russian Invasion of Ukraine: Updates Throughout the Day

7:39 AM: As second month of the invasion begins, Ukraine struck a blow as they destroyed a Russian warship in the Russian occupied city of Berdyansk. The city has been a major transportation hub for Russia.

9:20 AM: The United States announced it would accept 100,000 Ukrainian refugees. 3.5 million people have fled the country since the invasion began. The U.S. also donated $1 billion to help the Europeans deal with the refugee crisis.

1:44 PM: President Joe Biden promised more Ukrainian aid as well as warning against Russia using chemical weapons in Ukraine.

2:50 PM: President Biden stated that the United States would respond if Russia uses chemical weapons in Ukraine after the meeting with NATO leaders. Biden also said he believes Russia should be removed from the group of 20 major economies and restrict Russia’s say in the global economy..

5:16 PM: The United Kingdom has said that Russia is using The Wagner Group, a group of Russian mercenaries, to infiltrate Ukraine with the purpose of assassinate Ukrainian President Zelenskyy. They have also announced sanctions against the group.
