Columbus, MT.: A bridge over the Yellowstone River collapsed early this morning. The collapse caused portions of a freight train carrying hazardous materials to plunge into the flooded river. According to the Stillwater County’s chief of emergency services David Stamey, the freight train’s cars were carrying asphalt & sulfur. County officials shut down drinking water intakes downstream while they figure out the danger. A reporter of the Associated Press witnessed a yellow liquid pouring out of some of the cars. Andy Garland, spokesman for the Montana Rail Lines, announced that the crew of the freight train were all safe and no injuties were reported.
