Jacksonville, Fl.: Jacksonville Mayor Donna Deegan confirmed Saturday that there are a “number of fatalities” in response to a shooting at a Dollar General store on Kings Road in Northwest Jacksonville. She also said the gunman barricaded himself in the store.

Various sources said that around 12:45pm a suspicious man, who is believed to be the gunman, was seen at Edward Waters University. Where he was seen putting on a ballistics vest.

An eyewitness said he heard gunshots ring out as the shooter was firing at cars. He saw a woman running and another man fall backwards.

A city official mentioned that the alleged shooter is believed dead, but that has not been confirmed.

7:15 p.m.: 3 people were killed including the shooter in a racially motivated shooting. “This shooting was racially motivated and he hated Black people,” Jacksonville Sheriff T.K. Waters said at a news conference. He said the shooter, who is White and shot himself after the attack, left behind evidence that outlined his “disgusting ideology of hate” and his motive in the attack.
